Travis Laughlin
Travis Laughlin received his BA in music from the University of Virginia in 2007 and has taught violin and viola for many years to both children and adults. In his lessons, he prioritizes a comfortable relationship to the instrument so that students find a relaxed, beautiful sound. He covers the rudements of intonation and bow technique, rhythm and note reading, and using the violin as a personal form of expression.
Travis encourages his older students to take responsibility for their practice habits, form their own musical interpretations, and to strive for their potential as a creative person. He is a strong advocate for ensemble participation and looks for opportunities to create chamber groups whenever students are ready and interested. As a violinist, Travis has performed with the New Hampshire Philharmonic, the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, and is currently the concertmaster for the Southern New Hampshire University Orchestra.
