Jake Copp
Jake began playing cello at the age of 11, studying with Dorothy Braker. A NH Seacoast native, he has played as a member of the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and has extensive performance experience playing at weddings, churches and in pits at a variety of theaters around the area. In 2019, he was the first prize winner of the Cape Ann Symphony’s Young Artist Competition, and was featured as a soloist, as well as guest conductor, during their Holiday Pops concert series that year. He is a graduate from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Computer Science, during which time he studied with Dr. Jacques Lee Wood.
In teaching, Jake believes that placing trust in students is the best way to help them gain confidence and to encourage them to take on new challenges. He enjoys finding unique ways to connect with each student’s own particular musical interests to inspire them to engage with music in ways that feel most personal to them.
