Policies & Payment Terms

Attendance/Makeup Policy

  • Students are charged for and expected to attend all lessons for which they register. No refunds are given for lessons missed due to illness, vacation, or other absence.
  • Students must notify their teacher at least 24 hours in advance if they plan to miss a lesson. If notice is not given, the lesson is forfeited and ineligible to be made up.
  • Students who register for 16 weeks of lessons are allowed one makeup lesson per semester – to be scheduled at the teacher’s convenience. Only excused absences are eligible to be made up. Makeup lessons are scheduled directly with your teacher. Please do not call the SAM office to give notice for an absence or schedule a makeup lesson.
  • There will be no credits or refunds issued due to student absences.
  • There are no makeups for semi-private lessons, group lessons, or ensembles.
  • Inclement weather – If North Hampton schools close for inclement weather, Centennial Hall will also be closed. Teachers will reach out about rescheduling lessons or holding lessons virtually.

Recitals and Other Performance Opportunities

    • SAM provides various opportunities to demonstrate their skills through performance throughout and at the end of each semester.
    • Students must be signed up by their teacher in advance (by the signup deadline) to be able to perform. Students may not perform without teacher approval.
    • Though it is not required, we encourage all students and families to remain in the audience for the entire performance to show their support for their fellow SAM students.

How to Register

  • All SAM students need to register for lessons. This may be done online or by contacting Jamie at Jamie@seacoastacademyofmusic.org
  • The academic year is divided into two 16 week semesters – fall and spring. A flexible summer session is also offered. Registration enrolls a student for the entire academic year.
  • New students are welcomed throughout the year with prorated pricing, space permitting.

Making Payments

  • An annual non-refundable registration of $35 ($50 maximum per family) will be charged with the fall semester or when a new student enrolls.
  • Tuition can be paid online at the time of registration through PayPal or by credit card. Checks are also accepted by mail to our P.O. Box 726 North Hampton, NH 03862 or in-person at the time of your lesson.
  • A two-payment plan is also available for students registering for 16 weeks of private lessons. A $15 admin fee will be charged.
  • Please contact Katie at Katie@seacoastacademyofmusic.org with questions about payments.

If you start taking lessons with any SAM teacher without registering or paying, that is a problem for us.

  • SAM reserves the right to withhold lessons if payment is not received when due.
  • Lessons will resume when payment is received.

Credits and Refunds

  • Refunds are available for PRIVATE LESSONS ONLY. Please contact Katie at Katie@seacoastacademyofmusic.org with refund requests before the third week of the term. Refunds for tuition will be given minus a $15 admin fee.
  • No refunds will be given after the third lesson is taken.
  • No refunds, credits, or makeups will be given for semi-private lessons, group classes, ensembles or workshops.
  • On occasion, students’ lessons are interrupted by unforeseen circumstances. Please contact Katie at Katie@seacoastacademyofmusic.org and we will consider issuing a credit toward future lessons when the student is able to resume.
  • Credits are issued minus a $15 admin fee. Credits will be held on the student/family’s account for one year, after which unused credits will be added to the SAM Scholarship Fund.
  • Credits are non-transferrable and can only be used for lessons for other members of the same family. Credits cannot be transferred to other students at SAM.

Any questions?

Feel free to contact Katie at Katie@seacoastacademyofmusic.org or Jamie at Jamie@seacoastacademyofmusic.org with any questions!

Refer a friend and get a $25 tuition credit!

You can earn a one-time $25 tuition credit by referring a friend who is NEW to SAM (not returning after an absence). The registrant must register for private lessons and must include the name of the person who referred them (YOU*) at the time of registration (under the “How did you hear about SAM” section). The $25 credit will be applied to your account after the registrant has finished one semester of private lessons.

*You must be a currently registered student to make a referral. Referrals may not be immediate family members.
