Music Lessons For Everyone!

Seacoast Academy of Music

Fifteen Years of Music Education in the New Hampshire Seacoast Community

Welcome to Year 15 at Seacoast Academy of Music where our mission continues to be “Music Lessons for Everyone”

Fifteen years of memorable recitals, performances and observing our students as they enjoy every success along their music learning journeys.

When I founded SAM at Drake Farm in 2001, I envisioned a school where teachers and students of all ages would feel comfortable and inspired. Since I am a collaborative pianist and jazz singer I realized that it would take the efforts of many others to create a diverse student base. So I went to work and secured talented professional musicians for our faculty. Charlie Jennison, Les Harris, Jr, Shep Richards, Mindy McMahon and Kate Ludwig came on board in our early days. They brought saxophone, clarinet, flute, drum, guitar and voice students into our doors. At the Drake Farm we hosted free Sunday afternoon concerts which included classical string quartets, operatic baritone, Don J. Bravo, jazz saxophonist, Lou Bosco, slide guitarist David Tronzo and a Latin/Jazz Dance demonstration by Donna White.

Although surrounded by thousands of books, Drake Farm had severe limitations, so in January of 2005 I found Centennial Hall in the heart of North Hampton and said “this is it”! What a perfect setting for a music school. On the main floor we built our music lesson studios and utilized the adjacent large hall for workshops and recitals. The magnificent Grand Hall upstairs is complete with solid wood flooring and a stage. It will seat 250 once the renovation funds are raised by the building owners, Friends of Centennial Hall (FOCH).

The time has passed “presto a presto” since 2001. Today our top notch music teachers continue to share their knowledge and love of music with dedication, integrity and professionalism. Each day our studios resound with musical styles including Classical, Jazz, Folk, Rock, Hip Hop, Blues, Broadway, Celtic and Pop. We have a complete Suzuki string program, early childhood music classes, Centennial Hall Jazz Band, a Cello Ensemble, Celtic Fiddling and ukulele groups.

Many of our graduates have become life-long musicians. Some are engaged as career performers, arrangers, music teachers and some are members of their community choruses, bands and orchestras.

With heartfelt thanks to our faculty of inspired musicians, to our hundreds of former students and their families, to our New Hampshire Seacoast community and to you, our friends and current SAM parents and students.

I remain musically yours,

C. Christine Petrucci, N.C.T.M.
