Welcome to our new SAM teacher Cyndy Carlton who is returning to New Hampshire from Salt Lake City!  She is currently taking students for guitar and trombone lessons on Mondays and Wednesdays.  She is also starting a Community Ukulele group on Tuesdays at 6:45 that accepts participants on a donation basis.

Cyndy Carlton has recently retired as a Music Teacher from Salt Lake City School District where she taught General Music, English as a Second Language, Band, Choir and Orchestra. At the Jr. High Level, she taught ukulele, guitar, bucket drumming, theory, band, choir and orchestra. Cyndy has taught private lessons on Brass, Percussion, Strings, Woodwinds, piano, guitar, ukulele and was trained to teach children and adults with disabilities including learning disabilities.

Cyndy is originally from Hampton, NH, where she started her music training in 7th grade at Hampton Academy Jr. High. She graduated from Winnacunnett High School and attended Plymouth State College. Her main instrument is trombone and has played in numerous professional groups. She Currently plays with the Strafford, NH Wind Symphony.”

I come from a long line of professional musicians and entertainers. My Dad has played Tuba and my Mom, sister and Grandmother were night club entertainers. My Grandmother was a classical and Jazz Pianist who has played with Fritz Kreisler and Sammy Davis Jr.

Music has always been a major part of my life and all of my children played instruments and sang in choir.

I love teaching lessons to people of all ages. I will start children on guitar at age 6, piano- age 5, and other instruments based on individual student criteria. I believe Music can help children to learn to read, increase their focus and attention span. It gives one a feeling of success and evokes confidence.

I look forward to teaching my students at Seacoast Academy of Music.
