A brief history of Seacoast Academy of Music

Seacoast Academy of Music was founded in 2001 by piano teacher and director, Christine Petrucci. As an experienced music educator, Ms Petrucci’s vision for the Academy of Music included an engaging and inspiring environment for music instruction to students of all ages and abilities. As a professional performing musician, her vision also included a facility in which those students and other musicians could perform recitals and concerts for the local community.

Its first home was in the Drake Farm Antique Book Barn on US Rte 1 in North Hampton, NH where private music lessons were taught and a series of Sunday afternoon community concerts was established. As student enrollment increased and concert attendance grew, it was evident that a larger space was needed to pursue the dream.

SAM moved into historic Centennial Hall in January of 2005. In this endearing community building, professionally trained music teachers offer private lessons and a variety of musical ensembles, master classes and workshops.

SAM students have numerous opportunities to perform in recitals, concerts, festivals and competitions throughout the year. There are also field trips to musical events organized for the students' and their parents' enjoyment.

In addition, SAM teachers travel to several area schools (Satellite locations). In this outreach program they offer private and small group lessons before, during and after school.
